Every few months its aparently good to drain completely but I tend to keep mine topped up most of the time.
Neither is strictly true.

Keeping it above 40% is only relevant for long-term storage when the battery is disconnected and not in use.

Draining it completely is only relevant for older batteries which are either worn or have low quality/outdated programming.
