... and this is just the sort of sentence which puts into perspective what these 'parents' did the their punishment.

Yes the cases are different but there was clearly intent to do great, possibly, fatal harm to the vicitms in both cases, so how can gross and sustained abuse leading to the death of a totally helpless baby be treated so much more leniently?
