If i were you i'd give up on hoping for any gaming improvements. I spent years complaining about jitter to VM, unfortunately it's always going to be present in some capacity due to the DOCSIS network and due to congestion some get it worse than others, but it's still there even on the best VM connections. I've seen very very few BQM graphs based on VM connections that show little to no jitter.

Your best bet would be to go to a BT Wholesale fibre package offered by the other telephone companies. They aren't immune to congestion or lag, but i've seen a hell of a lot more in comparison that show what a connection should look like. Hell, i've had a 5mbit ADSL2+ line for the last 3 years and would keep that over getting VM back any day.
