The SNP were massively helped by Cameron's idiotic decision to try and play politics the morning after the vote in attaching conditions to the devolution that was promised in the campaign. It immediately allowed the SNP to say they were moving the goalposts and going back on the vow as soon as they got the vote they wanted. Cameron eventually relented but the damage was done.
