Not for us. Since the current board took over in 2010 George Burley was sacked at Christmas after we looked headed for League 1, and we survived. Then Dougie Freedman left for Bolton and Ian Holloway took us up. Last year Ian Holloway left after we were mauled at home by Fulham, Pulis kept us up, ruining your title charge in the process, whilst Fulham were relegated. I know all the arguments about being able to build in the long term but for a lot of clubs that's pie in the sky.

The key is bringing in the right replacement. Pulis was perfect, Warnock wasn't so I'm 50/50 on whether the board will get it right, but the chairman's comments in the wake of this latest sacking have made it clear that Warnock had lost the players.

Shame, but he was out of his depth. Any fool can stick 3 past Liverpool's defence, but Burnley showed how to play against Southampton, and it's a way we have the players for, as we showed last season. Conceding the sort of goals we did yesterday in a game that this crop of players is capable of getting something from is pretty unforgivable. We might still go down, but it is still the right decision.
