Its the game makers that think people only play mobile games for short bursts at a time which to an extent is correct.

So the buying things means you can play for longer. Where as if you play the 5-10 mins ie bus journeys and such then you can play without ever having to purchase gold/gems etc....

However I do think that games you actually purchase shouldn't have in app purchases. But they are popular and now even have made their way to games consoles. EA are probably worst for it. Paying up to £50 for a game but providing in app purchases to unlock things faster or extra characters is rife.
