Diversity is part of our make-up. There's no point burying your head in the sand and pretending we're not at a point in our history where services have to reflect the diverse nature of our population. Personally I can't really draw a distinction between subsidising Hum Europe or subsidising MTV. I watch neither, but there will be people choosing Virgin because of those channels who are heavily subsidising my viewing of Arsenal v. Southampton tonight and I am beyond certain that I've got the better end of the deal!
