It isn't that simple. The HDCP copy protection may have failed, or the TV may no longer support the resolutions supported by the V+.

That backs up the unsupported resolution theory. That starting up screen is 576p, but V+ then switches to 720p/1080i once the main software starts.

If you have a Samsung V+, try setting it to SCART output. It will then output 576i on the HDMI. This doesn't work on the Scientific-Atlanta V+ though.
