Use MakeMKV to dump the actual disc and remove any copy protection.
Then use VidCoder to encode the video, you can happily encode to MP4 with that.

It's not really "hardcore" it will take you 30 mins to get to grips with the whole process, and not cost you a penny. I can probably even give you some Vidcoder presets.
