LOL, I seem to recall suggesting (as did others) HBO could do something similar when the last deal was signed. I also seem to recall being shot down in flames by certain members, for suggesting anyone but Sky could show HBO programming in the UK - even though the press release was not clear on streaming rights or having HBOgo as an app on TIVO.
It's a shame you did not post links to the stories you read at the time, it may have saved myself and other members, who posted their thoughts on the possibility of HBO launching a streaming service, from a fair amount of ridicule.
Never mind though, eh.

HBO prefers their content to be tied to a provider so that the save on promotional and admin costs.
I personally think that the changing way that many people consume content now (i.e. streamed) has effectively forced them down a route that they would have preferred not to have gone down.
