One of the first major spreadsheets, and arguably the first major "killer application" for the PC, Lotus 1-2-3 has finally been killed off by IBM after 30 years.

I'll be honest, I'm a little sad as I learned spreadsheet use by ~~fighting with~~using Lotus 1-2-3, but I am not entirely surpised. Lotus was pretty much finished when IBM bought it in the 1990s, and Mitch Kapoor (the creator of 123, Firefox and the EFF) did well to sell it when he did. I am suprised IBM carried it on for as long as they did.
