I'm saying that if we took that approach, we should all dump our existing routers for a newer one just in case we get AC equipment down the line. Rather, it makes sense to hold off until you get or need AC devices, as by the the bugs should have been worked out (one would hope).
The reality is, unless OP has AC equipment, he won't see any advantage to the AC router, it's exactly the same but supports Wireless-AC. It won't have better range or throughput or anything like that unless it's paired with AC equipment.
There's also something else to consider - the fault reports of the SH2AC. It's hard to grasp how many are becoming faulty, partly due to the NDA of the testers, but enough people have mentioned it to be a concern. So if there's no AC equipment, it'd definitely be better to stick with the existing SH2.
