I just use a conked out 6-year-old old laptop with a broken screen to run pfsense. Never been above 20% CPU or RAM usage, so that seems a bit overkill.

Could have added a £15 USB gigabit NIC but figured it'd be easier just to run multiple VLANs over the onboard card. No disadvantage at least while internet connections are nowhere near 500Mbps.

I'd be interested in what the peak throughput of the SH2AC is in AC mode. The BT HH5 seems to cap out at about 430Mbps but that's with a 2-stream client card and 210Mbps on a mobile phone.
