Yes, spot on, I've often wondered why Scotland aren't getting their own dedicated news service. There should be more regional programmes from BBC Scotland.

However, now that the austerity measures are in full bite, I guess they will say they cannot afford such a 'luxury'.

I think that they could pay for this by sending fewer people to cover major world events, where the number of BBC staff embarrassingly outnumber all the other broadcasters.

The BBC needs to have a sense of proportion and fund the things that matter. More regional and local programming would be very popular indeed.
