This much, at least, is true.
I don't think that the terms & conditions referred to are technically correct. AFAIK, the freeview recordings are not deleted afterwards, but are made inaccessible to you until you resubscribe.

Resubscribe could be another feeview period, so, if it's any good to you, you could watch your recording then (or, of course, if you ever paid to subscribe to the channels).
