TomTom problem

I bought a TomTom Go 5000, I installed the MyDrive software and connected it and let it do the updates, but it failed on the maps say it was disconnected, this of course was after the 50 mintues ir so it took to do the process, it failed again after several more attempts

Checking the TomTom troubleshooting it said check Adobe Flash but that was current.

So now I have a brand new SatNav with no maps.

Any ideas, my only guess is I'm running Windows 8.1 and that the issue

Can a Mod please move this to the correct area, I have no idea how I selected the gaming area. I guess a finger issue. [edit Rob:Moved]
