Personally I preferred when SKY had all pay TV football rights, about 8 years ago, with international and European games featuring on free to air TV. Now we have a situation where there is 2 big pay TV players, with a fair split of attractive TV rights, with very little free to air football left. Now we're pretty much having to pay double the money to watch the same stuff we got from 1 provider and terrestrial TV. It can only get worse as bidding wars intensify. I reckon in 3 years time it'll cost about £70.00 per month to subscribe to both BT Sports and SKY Sports.
