phone connection question

I wonder if someone is able to answer this for me?

Imagine this scenario, if you will....

Someone at home, during the day, after school, decides to phone a mobile number. a short conversation ensues, and the mobile is put down. however, the person at home, during the day, after school, neglects to put the land line down, and thus it remains off the hook until yours truly finds it 5 hours later STILL of the hook... Will the land line be charged for those 5 hours, or will the call effectively have been ended (and so charging stops) when the mobile was put down?

Please note that although blood may be spilled as a result of the answer to this question, the truth-sayer will in no way be held accountable.

many thanks
