Vram is not going to make up for the card having it's main core reduced!

My god how blind are you? I've already pointed this out and provided links

Since you've proven yourself incapable of clicking the links I provided earlier, here's a direct view of the ACTUAL IMAGES proving you wrong:

And yet, the overclocked 780 is STILL £100 cheaper than the stock 780Ti,
and is faster in every single test.

I get it, you're annoyed with yourself because you wasted £1000 on a pair of overpriced graphics cards that you don't know how to use properly. However, just because you choose to play crap games that you're force fed by the mainstream media in order to justify your investment, does not mean everyone else is just as shallow. I've already proven several times your idea of "most games" does not reflect the reality of what most people play.

I know several people who did the exact same, even before the overclocked 6GB cards came out. But now, with OC'd GTX 780's being faster than the Ti in every way and over £100 cheaper, there's no sense in buying the 780Ti at all.

Surely top of the range everything doesn't really make sense unless you're going to spend your life sat on your arse playing games!

Yeah, I got a R9 290 as well, for the same reason. It's loud, it runs hot, but it's also by far the best bang for the buck right now. Though that said you can get smaller ones as well as quieter ones with aftermarket coolers for a little extra, which is often worthwhile considering how crap the stock AMD cooler is.

The noise and problems were really just because of the horrendous AMD reference cooler design. There's a lot of aftermarket coolers that perform a lot better, and indeed the R9 295x2 is a stupendously fast card that runs ridiculously cool and quiet as well thanks to the bundled water-cooling (which just proves what the chip is capable of when cooled properly). Sadly the market knows this which is why the R9 290s with decent coolers cost so much more.
