I am an old forum member but had to reregister has manofdevon111 because my log in would not work as manofdevon.

I purchased a 40" tv today (£199 at Sainsbury sale) and want to use the tv solely as a pc monitor. (I am into corel painter x3 and a large screen is preferable)

The tv manual shows a vga to vga is usuable so that's the way I want to go.

Can I leave my existing amplifier/speakers to cope with sound and not worry about using the tv speakers?

Any other advice welcome, before I connect. (it looks like the vga to tv is a D.sub15 type at the tv end so I will have to get a new lead tomorrow)
