That's really thinking outside the box
Just been given another Sony laptop to look at that powers on for a second then back off again, which looks like it's a motherboard issue. Seen a lot of sony's have motherboard issues and if your power button is ok, I think it is likely the issue here too. Unfortunately they are the most expensive part to replace in the
