2A is nice enough. Finding 2A USB adapters is hard enough as it is. Also too much higher and you begin to lose efficiency.

On a similar note I had been tempted to wire up a few rooms of my house with a 12v mains circuit as well, for powering all the routers and stuff off a single 12v supply rather than dozens and dozens of wall warts.
