If VM and Sky were to offer the same channels, this wouldn't damage Sky at all. They would be opening their channels to a wider audience meaning they could earn more revenue.
People are a lot more money conscious now. If customers are moving between Sky and VM every 18months to make use of the half price deals, it makes sense for both companies to offer the same. Sky will earn money from their own customers and from VM for taking more channels off them.
