There was a Symantec "Common Client" update recently and this seems to have caused a few problems. There is a post re this on the pcadvisor.co.uk forum. That also seems to be an NTL user and its seems NTL are baliming the symantec update

My e-mail is now giving the same error and it only started happening after this update.

Suggest you contact Symantec ( I have e-mailed them)
