I'm just sitting here watching a beautiful robin trying to make a next in a very unsuitable location only about 3 feet from the ground in the corner of some conifer hedging. As a builder this guy must be a cowboy - he's dropped a pile of debris on the ground below and the entrance to his boudoir looks like a bomb's hit it. He keeps turning up with oversize twigs, leaves and other bits of garden detritus and most of it either gets tangled up upon entry or falls to the ground. His bolt hole is hardly inconspicuous and I'm at a loss as to why he chose it in the first place - there's plenty of equally dense and far less vulnerable hedging just feet away.
Was hoping to get a picture of 'Rob the Builder' at work but he seems to be having a break for now. Have to admire these little birds though...
