I've always assumed our communications were monitored, i'm amazed that anybody could or would think othetwise!
BBC News were reporting earlier that an unamed London based satellite company has identified details of an automatic and routine signal from the jet that they received after it disappeared.
I have identified this company as being Inmarsat. This states that no timings have been given, but I believe that it was about 4 hours after the disappearance.
