Quite possibly but they have plenty of technology which is top secret and they'd have nothing to gain by divulging its existence, especially so close to China. It wasn't that long ago that we had no idea how they'd been monitoring vast numbers of emails, phone calls etc. If the US has top secret listening/monitoring capability near China I reckon they'd want to keep it as quiet as they did their SOSUS arrays of the late 20th C.
