No, it would make debris break up and EASIER to find.
Just for example, all those fantastic plastic hard samsonite type luggage that would no doubt be in the hold, along with loads of other stuff that would float. It would be easily found.
No, when there is none, or very little debris, it means the aircraft hit the water intact, and at a very steep angle or vertically.
