The latest conspiracy is that family members are getting ringing mobile phones when they've tried to call passengers on the plane.

Is this normal for phones to do this?
I know that when I call people and their phone is off it either says the mobile you are calling is off or goes straight to voice mail.

Now this seems odd as normally all phones would be off as required by most airlines during flight.
