The mercury (thiomersal) issue - seems that there is pressure to phase it out, not through any concrete evidence, but for public reassurance as the perception is that mercury compounds must pose some risk.

Smallpox was only eradicated by consistent and concentrated vaccination on a global scale..and I still like to think that there is still the ability to make the vaccine just in case..Never say never.
