I know all the arguments for paying for content but if that charge is excessive then the free routes will always be there.
As I understand it is classed as illegal downloading, it is in effect stealing from the owners of the content. The industry does not help itself with the ridiculous laws and exclusivity deals, but this is the way it currently is and veering from that path does mean you are technically breaking the law. I can not imagine the providers will ever prosecute people watching it illegally, but I think people generally prefer to pay what is asked. If the majority of people refused to pay, the TV companies would not be able to fund new projects/content.

I would not pay extra for it myself. If I wanted to watch the content, I would wait for the content to arrive on Blu-ray or DVD, and enjoy the extras they have to offer. AFAIK, Now TV have limited seasons of Atlantic shows on-demand and in my eyes, it only strengthens my thoughts on buying box-sets. I have no problem being behind the times in therms of TV content.

I would not be overly happy for my VM bill to go up simply for Atlantic, but I would accept it because I know others would like the content, and many others have to pay for BT Sports even though they do not watch it.
