Judging by these replies it is a No but there must be some benefit otherwise it's just a case of people having more money than sense (no offence to anyone that owns a 4K TV btw)

The cynic would say that 3D failed to drive new sales of TVs that the industry was hoping for, so now they are pushing 4K.

4K will be great when there is plenty of content and a TV of 60" plus is appropriate for the room in which you want to view it.

Also, the quality of the TVs upscaler will be important, which means 4K TVs that produce a decent picture from SD (and HD?) will be expensive.

Personally, I think 4K TV is a niche product at the moment for people with loads of spare money and big living rooms. And even then, they could have problems with current content.

Just my POV.
