The tradional terrestrial and pay TV platforms will always get the content first purely because they have a far greater reach especially with the likes of US TV imports , look at shows like Revenge (E4) , Hostages (channel 4) there available to anyone with a TV licence which is far greater than Netflix's 2 million UK subscribers , even the shows picked up by the likes of Sky One , Fox etc have a far greater reach as they are available on the majority of UK pay TV platforms.
This is the reason why most of the content on the streaming services is generally older , the exception being there originally created content.
