On three occasions there has been a message saying that there was a 'serious problem' and that the system was fixing it. This always worked after about 30 minutes delay. Last night around 8 pm. the system froze. It halted mid-TV programme with the image frozen on screen. The Tivo did not respond to remote or manual commands. I resorted to rebooting via the power cord. This worked.

Does this experience indicate an existing / developing problem with my Tivo, or is this behaviour to be expected?
Aye i've never heard of a tivo saying "serious problem" on the screen. that doesnt sound good sadly. engineer and replacement it would seem!
