No not quite. Bad analogy because United today are a world apart from the club they were in SAF's first few years. They were more of a 'cup team' back then. The whole brand and business model was different, the attacking style of football was almost non existent. The step-up from Aberdeen to United (of 1986) was not as big as Everton to United of today.



But the 'new guy' has to show something, anything to indicate he's capable of the job! Which is what Moyes has easily failed to do.

Don't want to understand it Russ and I'd like to move on but it's tricky with the constant updates of your multi club existence.
