Airside will be slightly cheaper then. The Air is bigger and the Mini is smaller. The Air is faster but the difference is minor and to be honest a tablet isn't really a device where such specs matter too much. The screen quality is the same on both.

I recently got a iPad Mini because I prefer the smaller size. It makes it easier to read on which is the main purpose of the Mini for me (reading articles, newspapers and magazines) and it's more portable. It's better if you intend to use it outside the home a lot on a commute or whatever. The Air is probably better if you will use it for casual internet browsing around the house and don't see yourself holding it as you would a book/magazine.
