Yeah, it could of better. I did understand why it ended that way, but it could have been handled better. It looks like the writer/creator has left it ready for someone else to take up the reins and continue the show, should they feel the need.

Spoiler: 

The characters got shot at the beach and them then driving off the road was a metaphor for it being the end of the road. The picture behind the car in the car park at the beach means is called "End of the Road". Basically everything after they get the guns put to their heads is all a metaphor and never really happened.
