You need to decide what type of tablet you want. 7" or Large.

The best tablet is probably the iPad Air. Followed by the smaller iPad mini Retina. Simply because the iOS software still edges out Android when it comes to the tablet and the App Store for tablet application still isn't that good on Android IMO. However the Nexus 7 is also a very good tablet as well, great hardware, great screen and it's much cheaper than it's closet rival - the iPad Mini Retina.

So large tablet: iPad Air is simply way out there.
Smaller Tablet: iPad Mini or Nexus 7 dependent on if you want iOS or Android respectively.
