I had letter quoting same increase, so I rang retentions so explain that I had line rental saver to November, lady offered £5 pm discount until line rental saver renewal, which will now be end of contract. Since the £5.75 includes £1 line rental (not applicable in my case until Nov), this is a saving.

I have always found that VM are ready to consider helping customers when I have approached them. Just be calm and explain your situation and they are usually helpful.
