For a long time now, it has seemed that the majority of new HD channels on cable have been launched higher up the EPG, despite the popularity of them. If you are going to swap the SD channels out of their positions, you need somewhere to put them which is why it seems on the EPG from 161 onwards, this may be what is going to happen (or not!). If BBC One HD is moved to 161 at some point in the near future, that is non-official confirmation that VM aire about to start a channel swap which is what many of us want.

This is incorrect. BBC One/Two, ITV, Channel 4 and Channel 5 do not have HD swap and won't until all of their regions are in HD. Moving BBC One won't change that. There is still a lot of HD channels before 161 so I doubt this would signify a HD Swap coming.

There are not 8 HD channels coming to Freeview. Only 6 have been confirmed and they are the BBC HD channels and Al Jazeera HD.
