The Nicky Henderson-trained six-year-old was promoted to 7-2 favourite by the sponsors for the Cheltenham championship event in March after his three-length victory over John Quinn's grand mare Cockney Sparrow, with another two and a half lengths back to the returning Grumeti.
Henderson and champion jockey Tony McCoy had not enjoyed the best of luck in this race in the past, with Binocular sent off a short-priced favourite three years in a row but failing to win the Grade One.
