Simple they want in on the streaming market as for differences , Now TV movies only stream at 720p as opposed to 1080i on both VM and Sky theres no 5.1 sound at the moment unlike on VM and Sky.
Afraid I have to disagree MM.

Until Sky movies get the premiers before Lovefilm's rental by post service, or the few remaining blockbuster stores, give me the option to watch the many commentaries, documentaries, behind the scenes videos, interviews, deleted scenes and many other extras, improve their picture quality to the standards of my TV and Blu Ray player, and offer it at a cheaper monthly price than Lovefilm someone who is really into their movies should not be paying for Sky movies. If people just want to watch movies that are repeated ad nauseum, then Sky movies is the better option.

As someone is very much into his movies, I would much rather wait for my Blu-Rays to arrive by post than watch poorer PQ movies with no extras.

Sky movies also show plenty of films that have been shown TV before. For a start they had all the Bond movies for a while. Currently showing on Sky comedy is "The 40 year old virgin" Sky action will soon be showing Commando and (Rambo) First Blood and First Blood 2. Sky greats is currently showing Back To The Future and sky thriller are just finishing off the Day Of The Jackal.

There are many more movies that Sky are going to be showing later today and early tomorrow (BBTF 2, gladiator to name just two movies) which I have seen on TV a few times before.
