Media streaming info and links...

---

The Xbox One does not (yet?) have the same kind of media support as the Xbox 360, e.g. it can't currently play media stored on a USB device and it can't currently act as a client capable of browsing shared media on a UPnP Media Server such as TVersity or PS3 Media Server (which despite its name will stream content to all sorts of devices).

But... it is a DLNA (Digital Living Network Alliance) device, and can stream stuff from a DLNA source. Unfortunately at the moment it's not as simple as on the 360 - you can't just open up the Video app and then browse the shared folders of your media server.

What you need is a Windows 7 or 8 PC, which will let you use "PlayTo" to send stuff to the Xbox Video or Xbox Music apps.

Don't have Windows 7 or 8? Then you need a DLNA server and something to control it and push stuff to the Xbox One.

Such as Skifta...

I found this on Pocket-lint when searching for media streaming info:

Xbox One: How to stream content using DLNA

You install the Skifta server on your PC or Mac (or use something else that is DLNA), and then also install the Skifta app on an iOS or Android device. The mobile app lets you browse the content on the server and push it to the Xbox One.
