I was stopped a few months ago as I was walking just off City Road by an elderly couple who asked if they could walk with me as they were afraid. There is no other way of putting it but these people really do act like **** and have made the area pretty much a no-go zone for decent people.

The Kurdish (from several countries) population in that area has been strong-arming the locals (especially shopkeepers) and they seem able to buy the latest and poshest cars all of a sudden. The Roma and the Kurds don't get on well either, but I haven't heard of any violence
yet.
