Re: 6.7% Price Increase From February!

AT one time it seemed the "Norm" to get good deals from retentions on your existing package. The "Norm" now appears to be just achieving reductions by reducing the level of service. I strongly expect that the addition of new channels and stuff like BT Sport plus the cost of the "double" speed free provision has severley increased VM's costs and hence willingness to accept reductions in revenue from the existing packages.

I had the VIP50 (now VIP100) collection and when I went to them was only offered £7 / month reduction against downgrading to 60 meg. The list price difference was £7-50 so no reduction at all in essence.

Suffice to say I ended up going to sky for a deal including Sky TV plus extra, sky movies and sport, multiscreen and Sky phone with anytime calls for £67.90/month for a year including line rental. So even retaining 120 meg broadband (got sky basic included but insufficient for my needs) total cost was £105.40 compared to £116.20 for VM only.

This is the price we are paying for the upgrading of the TV content & BB improvements
