There wouldn't have been an update tonight anyway. Fridays aren't a good day to do updates - we don't want customers left without TV over the weekend if it all goes horribly wrong.

The VM network was built by many different companies who all used their own standards. So the technology varies between the regions. Testing in only one region wouldn't guarantee it would work elsewhere.
