I think it just depends on the guests and the host, generally I think it's still excellent with a good host like Alexander Armstrong , but it suffers if

a) they are there for novelty value (Bruce Forsythe springs to mind)
b) there's too much bickering, for example the other week when there seemed to be some animosity between the history guy and the host

maybe after 20 odd years just a bit bored of it.

Never Mind the Buzzcocks again can still be very good with the correct combo of guests and host, works better having guest host than a permanent one whose heart isn't in it.
