Beckett upbeat after Talent eclipse

Ralph Beckett believes the testing conditions led to Talent running slightly below her best as she finished a creditable third at Ascot on Saturday.

An impressive winner of the Epsom Oaks before running no sort of race in the Irish equivalent, the three-year-old bounced back to form to fill the runner-up spot behind Leading Light in the St Leger at Doncaster.

Sent off co-favourite for her final appearance of the year in the Qipco British Champions Fillies And Mares Stakes, Talent came up slightly short as she finished third behind older rivals Seal Of Approval and Belle De Crecy.

Toronado could go for the Breeders' Cup Mile after missing the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes at Ascot because of soft ground.

While stablemate Olympic Glory, who lifted Saturday's Group One for the Richard Hannon stable, is a possible for Santa Anita on November 2, Toronado is also under consideration, with both horses owned by Sheikh Joaan Al Thani.

"He might go for the Breeders' Cup Mile on turf," the trainer's son and assistant, Richard Hannon junior, told At The Races.
