I always thought major components such as the inner and outer drums, the bearings, the drive motor and the control system should last the life of the machine.
We think the life of the machine should be 5 or 6 years but the manufacturer thinks the life of the machine is when one of the major components gives up the ghost and prices the repair so high the machine gets scrapped.
Even 15 years ago, when I retired from the trade, the writing was on the wall, as making money from washer repairs, if you were honest, was getting increasingly difficult because they were getting to be such a throw away item. Changing pumps, door seals or unblocking them were about the only worthwhile jobs left.
