In my experience, a lot of corporate facebook pages are run by people with little or no knowledge of the products that they purport to know about. The people staffing them are mainly young, inexperienced and lack the maturity to be able to interact with customers correctly. They are inappropriately informal and think that they are exempt from general corporate standards applicable to other parts of the company.
The admin of many facebook pages is outsourced, however, VM run their own.
I have been informed by former VM staff (that were made redundant following the closure of the Albert Dock premises) that they are shocked at some of the responses on both the facebook page and community forum.
A recent example was when one VM employee ridiculed a VM customer for initially being unable to get BT Sport.
